Assistant Educational AI Developer / AI Specialist (at the rank of IT Officer/ IT Technician) in the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 531292) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering, Information System or Systems and Informational system, or Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, or other related disciplines with 2 years’ practical relevant experience or postgraduate training in AI development, preferably in one or more of the following areas: development of Large Language Models (LLM), chatbots, natural language processing system, and machine learning algorithms.  

Applicants should be familiar with full stack development, ideally with proficiency in some of the following: Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Rails, React, TypeScript, Unity, GraphQL and Postgres.  A good understanding of cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS, AliCloud, Tencent Cloud or Google Cloud is preferred.  Excellent problem-solving solution-oriented skills and the ability to break down complex issues into manageable tasks are essential, while possession of good project management skills and/or experience in VR/AR development (particularly in creating immersive educational simulations and interactive 3D learning environments) would be an advantage.  Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as AI Specialist.

The appointee will assist the Faculty in developing new Generative AI infrastructure and software applications for advanced pedagogical purposes.  He/she will also be expected to drive continuous improvement, explore new technologies and methodologies to enhance our IT landscape.  We expect the appointee to have a strong sense of responsibility with good interpersonal skills, and be able to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and/or skills test.
