A Day in the Life:

The Senior Director, Fleet Applied Science will help drive the development of new tools and systems to evolve Hertz’s fleet analytics capabilities to leverage advanced methods in AI and machine learning such as neural networks, genetic algorithms, and other relevant recent analytical breakthroughs. These capabilities will be leveraged to optimize fleet decisions and drive execution of strategies that maximize an individual vehicle’s contribution to Hertz’s financial performance. As a Senior Director, you will be expected to have the expertise and passion to work “hands-on”, while also communicating clearly with leadership, recruiting and leading a team and ensuring that our strategy is well-aligned with parallel initiatives.

The preferred onsite working location is Estero, FL or Atlanta, GA; remote eligible. 

The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $200,000; commensurate with experience. 

 

What You’ll Do:

· Strategy Development: Develop and execute a robust analytics strategy that supports the company’s objectives within the highly competitive rental car industry.

· Project Management: Design, execute, and drive accountability on strategic and tactical projects centered on delivering results through data analysis.

· Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing team.

· Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service delivery through data-driven insights.

· Fleet Optimization: Utilize data to optimize fleet management, including vehicle utilization and acquisition strategies.

· Market Analytics: Analyze market trends, competitor actions, and customer demand to inform forward-looking growth and fleet needs.

· Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Senior Leadership to provide analytical support and drive data-driven decision-making.

· Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and presentations that communicate key metrics and insights to the Senior Leadership team.

· Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and apply this knowledge to enhance the company’s competitive edge.

· Data Governance: Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity across all analytics activities, promoting best practices in data management.

 

What We’re Looking For:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

· Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a similar field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated success with advanced ML/AI tools is strongly preferred.

· Technical Skills: Experience building optimization models, genetic algorithms, and neural networks. Familiarity with leveraging AI technology in data analytics and modeling (e.g.,Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow). Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark), data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and statistical analysis software (e.g., R, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas).

· Leadership: Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.

· Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including Senior Leaders.

· Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
