Description & Requirements

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are driven by powerful information. We combine data and context to give our clients a complete picture—around the clock, from around the world. The Data team is responsible for delivering this information through innovative technology—quickly and accurately.

Our team

The Macro Industries Data team provides high-quality, structured data to support research on energy markets and global financial trends.

We work with energy analysts who track developments in renewables, oil, gas, and infrastructure, providing the data they need to analyze industry shifts. We also support financial researchers who study market trends and company performance, ensuring they have reliable data to assess risks and opportunities. By collaborating with analysts, product managers, and engineers, we help transform complex datasets into accessible insights that drive informed decision-making.

The role:

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing datasets throughout their entire lifecycle—from acquisition and validation to storage and delivery. You will help build and maintain ETL pipelines, ensuring that data is processed efficiently and meets high-quality standards.

Beyond technical execution, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple departments and regions to align processes with broader data governance and strategy initiatives. You will play a key role in identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, and driving innovation in how we manage and present data.

Your work will directly impact the research and insights that BloombergNEF and Bloomberg Intelligence provide to clients. By leveraging your technical expertise and analytical mindset, you will help shape data workflows, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance the overall data experience for internal and external users.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Maintain and support ETL pipelines

  • Build quality workflows and work with the Data Governance team to develop performance indicators

  • Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and communicate outages clearly

  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge of client workflows and ability to anticipate needs, spot gaps and identify areas of improvement

  • Ensure data is fit for purpose, meets service level agreements, and aligns with market needs

  • Provide support for internal users across Product, Engineering, and Data teams

  • Collect, analyze and interpret data to spot trends and provide actionable insights.

  • Display confidence in using tools and data visualization to transform raw data into meaningful reports, aiding in informed decision-making

  • Identify and implement improvements in ETL processes and dashboards

  • Partner with stakeholders in Engineering and Product to drive a balanced data strategy

You’ll need to have:

  • A BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Technology, or equivalent work experience

  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to learn and contribute

  • Passion for data, technology, and finance

  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities

We’d love to see:

  • Experience in IT, project management, engineering, data analysis, or research

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA

  • Experience with Bloomberg products, including the Bloomberg Terminal
