The Business & Industry Copilots group is a rapidly growing organization that is responsible for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 suite of products, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, AI Builder, Microsoft Industry Solution and more.

We are seeking an accomplished and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our 'AI Tools' team within the Business & Industry Copilots group. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of developing AI Tools, which are specialized capabilities or skills that leverage foundation models and enable AI Agents to address both customer and enterprise needs effectively and efficiently. You will collaborate with a diverse team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to drive innovation and deliver cutting-edge full-stack solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement AI tools and models to augment the functionality of AI Agents.
  • Leverage foundation models to create scalable and efficient AI solutions including optimizing and refining models to improve performance and accuracy.
  • Conduct experiments, identify patterns, and provide strategic insights to influence product direction and business strategies.
  • Stay up to date on the latest advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) and ways to leverage them to solve complex business tasks.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

                o OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

                o OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

                o OR equivalent experience.

 

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) and agentic design patterns (e.g. Tool Use)
  • Experience in one or more programming languages, preferably C#, Python or Java.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing innovative AI solutions from ideation to deployment
  • Experience in working with cloud-based infrastructure and big data technologies.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, including mentoring team members and leading projects.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
