PhD Candidate on Multi-Objective Optimization and Machine Learning for Hydrogen Technologies
The Natural Computing Group (NACO) at LIACS, Leiden University, is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our cutting-edge project on AI tool development for hydrogen energy systems (e.g., electrolysis systems). This initiative aims to enhance performance predictions and lifetime assessments of stack components through advanced data-driven modelling. You will work closely with experimental teams to continuously refine the model as more data becomes available and evaluate how short-term, small-scale test results translate to full-scale performance.
We are looking for a self-motivated and creative researcher with a strong background in multi-objective optimization, stochastic optimization, and machine learning. Industrial experience in digital twin development for energy systems is highly valued. You will be working with the Natural Computing Group (NACO) at LIACS, Leiden University, and collaborating closely with hydrogen technology companies and other universities in the Netherlands.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct original and novel research in the field of multi-objective optimization and machine learning for hydrogen associated equipment;
- Publish and present scientific articles at international journals, conferences, and workshops;
- Collaborate with hydrogen technology companies and researchers of other universities in the Netherlands;
- Assist in teaching bachelor’s and master’s courses.
Selection Criteria
- We are looking for a candidate that meets the following criteria:
- MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field;
