Overview
The Data Analyst will join a team of data engineers, developers, and product owners responsible for the firm’s enterprise data warehouse, MDM and business intelligence solutions, and firm-wide report development. Key team initiatives include the design and implementation of strategic dashboards, delivery of self-service analytics, and the continued expansion of a robust and controlled data landscape.
The Data Analyst will work closely with stakeholders, including IT, finance, business and practice development, HR, and internal application owners, to understand and improve data use across its lifecycle. They will help define and document requirements, including quality standards, pertaining to the sourcing, development, management, and consumption of the firm’s data assets. The Analyst will gain expertise in the firm’s key data domains and will be a critical resource for stewards and end users as we enable new data capabilities and contribute to firm’s overall data literacy.
Responsibilities
- Support the Manager of Data Governance by working with data owners and stewards to define key data and its quality standards, and providing stakeholders with the information they need to understand what is available is how to use it to make strategic decisions
- Drive continuous data quality improvements by investigating common challenges and developing sustainable plans to mitigate them
- Develop and publish data quality dashboards promoting increased transparency and confidence among stakeholders
- Work with data engineers, business intelligence architects and developers to create system documentation, maintain core data models and data lineage to streamline development efforts
- Maintain the report inventory and data dictionary – help the firm understand the context of reports and guide them to the best resources
- Support stakeholder inquiries, ensuring issues are identified, tracked, and resolved
- May perform stewardship tasks for critical enterprise data
- May perform quality assurance testing for small projects and enhancements
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience working in a data analyst capacity with a focus on data governance, business intelligence or reporting solutions
- Understanding of relational databases and master data management practices
- Strong SQL skills and proven ability to work with analytics tools, including high proficiency with Excel. Experience with MicroStrategy is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, quantify and effectively raise business risks associated with data quality or non-compliance
- Advanced business analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively document sustainable solutions
- Strong relationship management skills with internal partners and clients (e.g. management, peers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong presentation skills (written & verbal) and equally effective at translating complex information to technical and business audiences
- Legal services and/or finance department experience is a plus

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
- Boston: $81,000 - $123,500
- New York: $84,900 - $129,450
Working Conditions
This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
