As part of our company-wide Data & AI development initiative, we are strengthening our Data, Analytics & AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to achieve ambitious targets. Defining, implementing and governing the best methodologies to manage the lifecycle of good quality, reliable data pipelines and platforms are critical for continual growth of our data-driven solutions.

 

To support this, we are now looking for an experienced Lead/Principal Data Engineer for our Information & Technology function.

 

In this role, you will collaborate with business and product owners within Kemira to deliver data for reporting, AI/ML and other data-driven projects. Working closely with the CoE Lead, Lead Data Scientist, Design Lead, and ML Engineers, you will ensure the development of high-quality Data Management, Pipelines and Governance.

 

You can be based at any of our local offices across the EMEA region. While most of your colleagues are located at our headquarters in Helsinki, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders and peers from around the globe.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Applying best practice DataOps principles to manage the lifecycle of Data in Kemira Azure, and in the ISO-certified Kemira DataHub (Databricks).
  • Supporting and governing the data architecture of the Kemira DataHub, including connectivity to data-driven solutions from the CoE, ensuring quality, security, availability and reliability.
  • Evaluating technical trade-offs in key decision-making processes to achieve optimal outcomes for DataOps, Data Governance and Data-Driven solutions.
  • Implementing secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure-as-code to productize Data Engineering Pipelines in Cloud environments.
  • Governing monitoring solutions to track the data lifecycles and streaming availability  while addressing incidents related to data models, governance and pipelines.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for data catalogues, governance, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Data Scientist, Lead ML Engineer, BIOps and Design Lead to integrate best practices into data-driven solutions.

 

What you’ll bring to the team?

 

  • A Master’s degree or higher in a STEM field.

  • Substantial experience with Data Engineering practices in Big Data and Cloud Environments.

  • Deep understanding of best practices, lifecyle management and systems for different types of data products in the cloud.

  • Senior or leadership experience with excellent collaboration skills, including working closely with data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong technical and business communication skills in English.

  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools for Data solutions and/or Azure DevOps and related Azure services.

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, preferably within the context of Databricks and Azure. SAP knowledge a bonus.

  • General understanding of cybersecurity best practices and GDPR compliance requirements for data platforms and data-driven solutions.

  • Experience with industrial data is a plus.

  • Relevant certifications in Azure are desirable.
