As a Senior Data Engineer, you will ensure scalable and efficient data systems by addressing global operational demands, maintaining high data quality, and integrating diverse data sources. Navigate regulatory landscapes and implement robust governance frameworks to support long-term technical strategies. This role is based fully onsite at our Mississauga, ON office location.

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE;
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data systems to meet the evolving needs of IKO’s global operations.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data integration solutions like Azure Data Factory, Talend, etc. to integrate complex data sources, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and performance.
- Ensure reliability by implementing robust frameworks and testing methodologies, providing trustworthy insights for decision-making.
- Support enterprise-level data governance initiatives by implementing frameworks and practices that align with organizational standards, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business objectives into technical solutions.
- Support the administration of Azure-based databases, including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and maintenance, ensuring database reliability and functionality.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and implement industry-leading tools like Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, and Databricks to enhance the data ecosystem.
- Analyze and resolve intricate data challenges, employing problem-solving and critical thinking to optimize engineering processes.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
- 10+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including writing and optimizing complex queries, window functions, CTEs, and query tuning for large datasets. Strong experience in database design and managing transactions.
- Strong experience with Python for data processing, automation, and the development of ETL pipelines using libraries like Pandas and NumPy, with proven ability to integrate Python with Azure services and handle large-scale data processing using frameworks like PySpark.
- Expertise in Git workflows, including branching, merging, pull requests, and version control best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD, including automating pipelines, managing environment configurations, and deploying Azure resources.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing principles, including star/snowflake schemas, SCD, and data governance frameworks to ensure high-quality, compliant, and performant data solutions.
- Extensive experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Apache Spark, Talend, Qlik etc.).
- Solid communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business insights.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring team members, collaborating effectively with stakeholders, and taking ownership of projects, with the potential to grow into a managerial role.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to balance technical details with overarching business objectives.
- Azure Data Engineer Certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written French is a plus.
