Compensation includes a base salary of $99,000.00 - $165,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. We are looking for a highly motivated Sr Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, optimize data infrastructure, and support analytics on our Atlanta team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative environment. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with technical teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions. This role will be instrumental in setting up a scalable data infrastructure to support future AI and machine learning capabilities, enabling advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.
What You'll Do
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Provide expertise in designing and maintaining relational databases, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Support query performance optimization, indexing strategies, and data partitioning for efficiency in large-scale data processing.
- Automate data ingestion, transformation, and integration across multiple sources.
- Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
- Enable AI/ML capabilities by ensuring clean, high-quality data pipelines that support machine learning models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into data solutions.
- Drive innovation in data engineering by researching and implementing new technologies, tools, and best practices.
Who You Are
Skills and Requirements:
- BS/BA in and 5-7 years’ experience in a related field, with a focus on data engineering. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2-3 years’ experience; or 10+ years’ experience in a related field and no degree.
- Expertise in SQL and Python, including libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for data transformation and optimization.
- Proven experience with data warehousing solutions such as Oracle, Snowflake, Fabric, or Databricks.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, indexing, and performance tuning for large-scale data environments.
- Knowledge of data security, access control, and compliance policies (e.g. HIPAA).
- Ability to design and lead large-scale data infrastructure initiatives with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for optimizing data workflows.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present insights and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly detail-oriented, with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- Must live within a commutable distance to the office.
Preferred
- Experience using R for statistical modeling and data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience building data integrations in OneStream.
- Experience developing APIs for data services, including RESTful or GraphQL APIs for data consumption by applications and AI/ML teams.
