This summer internship is a paid opportunity that requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with overtime available upon prior approval. Interns will undergo 1-2 weeks of training and orientation before being assigned projects to complete. The role focuses on automating manual tasks using Jupyter Notebook and improving the quality of existing data analytics suites, particularly by reducing false positives in actionable data. Interns will be assigned 1-3 projects per week, with those involving longer timelines requiring excellent time management and project prioritization. The internship offers students the chance to collaborate with data modelers, analysts, and developers to improve data quality and enhance analytic processes. Throughout the internship, students will be expected to provide monthly updates to their Data Science team, covering project progress and insights. Upon completion, interns will present their findings to Operations Systems, technology, and business leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Automate Data Tasks: Use Jupyter Notebook and Python to automate repetitive data tasks, increasing efficiency and accuracy in data processing and analysis.
- Improve Data Quality: Analyze current analytics suites and work on improving data quality by removing false positives and refining actionable insights.
- Collaborate with Data Teams: Work alongside data modelers, analysts, and developers to improve analytic products and processes, ensuring high-quality outputs for business stakeholders.
- Document Business Use Cases: Understand and document business use cases, gather relevant data, and apply statistical methods to draw fact-based conclusions and recommend actions.
- Reporting & Presentation: Write and present data-driven findings to leadership teams across Operations Systems, technology, and business functions, ensuring that recommendations are clear and actionable.
- Project Execution: Provide high-quality professional execution of daily tasks and special projects, ensuring that data analytics meet the business needs and deliver actionable results.
Job Qualifications:
- Education:
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's STEM program, preferably in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Skills/Experience:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SQL.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and programming tools like Python (Jupyter Notebook), R, or similar statistical analysis tools.
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras) and data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Tableau, Qlick Sense or similar.
- Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience working on data-driven projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team as well as autonomously when appropriate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights in an understandable manner.
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and project prioritization skills.
