Data Team - Data Governance Specialist

The Data Governance Specialist is a key role in the application and implementation of the data governance strategy, where the goal is to enable data to be democratised and the company to become more data-driven.

A taster of what you will be involved with: 

• Oversee the implementation of the data governance strategy, including data and business catalogues, master data management, metadata management, and data classification.
• Ownership of the data governance tool including maintenance and adaptation to business needs.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and product managers, to understand data requirements and facilitate smooth data operations.
• Assist in the development and ensuring adherence to data governance policies, procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards whilst aligning to business needs.
• Assist in the data maturity assessment and development of roadmap to improve maturity.
• Help stakeholders grow in the data governance area through training plans, mentoring, and information sessions.

What we are looking for

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role involving data governance.
• Bachelors degree in computer science or related field.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
• Experience of building a data catalogue including business glossary and business terms.
• Broad knowledge of data quality, data integration, data lifecycle, databases and data warehousing solutions.
• Experience with mapping data lineage.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations, including GDPR, and data security standards.
• Experience in the iGaming industry is considered a plus.
• Experience with data quality and data governance tools and methodologies, including data validation and profiling.
• Experience with managing a Data Governance Tool (e.g. Collibra, Atlan, OvalEdge)
• Familiarity with Data Integration tools such as Apache NiFi and orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.Proficiency with issue tracking tools like JIRA and documentation platforms like Confluence
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly document and communicate data quality results and issues.
• Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with business, tech, and data engineering teams, and lead working groups.
• Self-starter mindset, analytical approach, and positive "can-do" attitude.
