POSITION SUMMARY: 

The IT Data Architect plays a pivotal role in contributing to the success of the IPG Data Governance Organization (DGO) by designing, implementing, and managing data-related processes and structures. This position focuses on advancing IPG’s data governance strategy while ensuring the quality, security, and integrity of data across the organization. Key areas of responsibility include data architecture design, data catalog development, master data management, lifecycle management, and compliance with regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leadership and Strategic Direction

  • Identify opportunities to expand the use of Data Architecture and Master Data Management (MDM) services across operational units.
  • Lead the refinement and evolution of Data Architecture and MDM principles to align with organizational goals.
  • Champion and promote data governance principles and best practices throughout the organization.

Data Governance and Policy Development

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a comprehensive data governance framework.
  • Define and enforce policies, standards, and procedures for effective data management.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and adherence to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices in solution design.

Data Architecture and Modeling

  • Design and maintain data models that meet business requirements while adhering to governance policies.
  • Collaborate on the creation and alignment of business process models with data models.
  • Lead discussions and evaluations of data modeling across initiatives, including FMS, HCM, CRM, FP&A, Resource Management, and Active Directory.

Master Data Management (MDM)

  • Drive the implementation of MDM strategies to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of master data across the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain MDM principles and approaches in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Data Security and Compliance

  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement robust data security and privacy measures.
  • Ensure data governance policies comply with regulatory requirements and data privacy standards.

Data Quality and Stewardship

  • Partner with business leads and data stewards to define and monitor data quality standards.
  • Provide guidance and support for data stewardship practices, ensuring accountability and ownership of organizational data.

Integration and Architecture Support

  • Support the Data Integration team in designing and maintaining seamless data integration architecture.
  • Conduct architecture reviews to evaluate new application data needs and optimize existing structures.
  • Participate in due diligence processes for new software acquisitions, reviewing data models for alignment with organizational goals.

Communication and Training

  • Educate stakeholders on data governance principles and foster a culture of data literacy.
  • Deliver training sessions and create resources to promote adherence to governance policies.

 EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with expertise in translating business requirements into actionable data strategies.
  • Proficiency in database design, modeling techniques, and data segmentation.
  • Experience with database languages such as T-SQL or PL-SQL.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Technical writing experience, including the development of queries, reports, and presentations.
  • Solid understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance issues.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and business executives.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with proven success in team-oriented environments.
  • Flexibility, diplomacy, and adaptability to address complex challenges and drive innovative solutions.

Experience

  • 5+ years of data analysis, architecture, or governance experience, preferably in a decentralized, multinational organization.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, Data Science, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is a plus

SALARY RANGE:

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $160,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
