Wood is recruiting for a Senior Data and GenAI Lead to join its Digital Consulting business focusing on DataOps and GenAI business driving GenAI-powered innovation and enhancing both client delivery and business growth. This opportunity is Hybrid Houston, Texas.

The Role

The Senior Data and GenAI Lead embedded within a dedicated data operations and digital asset management team, you will work closely with Digital Consulting, Operations, and Project teams to develop and deploy solutions that meet client needs around data operations, governance, standards, data structuring, architecture development, dashboarding and reporting, leveraging AI solutions to enable visualization, optimized work processes, decision support and workflow automation etc.

Typical responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven solutions, ensuring scalability and business value.
  • Own the end-to-end AI solution lifecycle, from ideation to documentation, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Work hands-on with LLMs, machine learning models, and AI automation tools to solve real-world industry challenges
  • Continuously improve AI models through fine-tuning, retraining, and user feedback integration.
  • Engage directly with clients and internal stakeholders to understand pain points and identify high-value AI opportunities.
  • Drive GenAI adoption across Wood’s business units, helping teams understand and apply AI to their workflows.
  • Partner with regional project teams and consulting units to ensure AI solutions align with operational goals.
  • Assist in managing relationships with supporting teams, vendors, and technology partners.
  • Keep up with emerging AI trends and technologies, ensuring Wood remains at the forefront of GenAI adoption.
  • Contribute to the evolution of DataOps and GenAI best practices, shaping how AI is embedded in engineering and industrial projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop AI governance, ethics, and risk management frameworks.

Expected: 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical discipline with an engineering background
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience delivering digital solutions in Energy Sector or related field industries
  • Deep knowledge of data management solutions and data architecture, data processing, analytics and IoT systems, with strong capabilities across a range of technologies
  • Python, including Pandas, API development, machine learning including regression models, scikit-learn, TensorFlow. 
  • GenAI, including natural language processing, RAG and LLM reasoning / prompting.  
  • Data wrangling and data ingestion from a range of data sources including, SAP, SharePoint and Snowflake as well as unstructured data such as documents, spreadsheets and drawings. 
  • Data integration, including use of LLM API's to create content, set up and management of vector databases and development of retrieval pipelines
  • Experience of implementing successful solutions on AWS, Microsoft cloud services or Databricks, MS Power BI, UI frameworks such as JavaScript-based frameworks. 
  • Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving attributes should include:   
    • Highly motivated, taking ownership to consistently deliver on commitments. 
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 
    • Curious with the ability to ask the right questions and assimilate information from a variety of sources to quickly demonstrate an understanding of your customers business processes, pain points and needs. 
    • A proven track record in the end-to-end delivery of impactful AI solutions. 
  • Ability to thrive when working as part of a global team. 
  • Must be US Citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
