Come create the technology that helps the world act together

We are a B2B technology innovation leader pioneering networks that sense, think and act™.

At Nokia, we create technology that helps the world act together. We put the world’s people, machines and devices in sync to create a more sustainable, productive and accessible future.

Your career here will have a positive impact on people’s lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.

For the past 100 years, Bell Labs has been harnessing the extraordinary imaginations of our researchers to fuel visionary breakthroughs. Our pioneering progress has expanded possibilities to solve humanity’s most pressing challenges. As Nokia's industrial research lab, we keep innovating with purpose, pursuing responsible, sustainable technologies that will have a demonstrative impact on society.

The AI Research Lab at Bell Labs invites applications for PhD positions in machine learning, mathematics, networking, modeling, and optimization. The Lab has a long tradition of excellence in research and currently consists of 80 staff members with expertise in algorithmic and computing sciences, network measurement and optimization, information theory, and machine learning. The current PhD position is open in the Machine Learning and Systems Group in the AI Research lab and will be carried out in collaboration with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris in the scope of a Cifre project.

The successful applicants will work with our current team to conduct high-quality fundamental research and apply the findings to problems that arise in a wide range of Nokia applications and use cases.

In the scope of this offer, we will address the research challenge of leveraging knowledge representations for hallucination detection and prevention in Large Language Models (LLM). Today, LLMs are revolutionizing natural language processing and artificial intelligence with their impressive abilities of generalization. However, their "black box" nature limits their access to and understanding of factual knowledge and often leads to hallucinations by generating factually incorrect statements. Knowledge Graphs (KGs), on the other hand, offer a structured representation of factual information, providing a valuable resource for enhancing LLMs. By integrating KGs, LLMs can gain access to external knowledge, improving their reasoning capabilities, avoiding hallucinations and making their outputs more interpretable.
