About This Role As the Director of Analytics at MN Custom Homes, you will spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that leverages analytics to optimize performance across the organization. From land acquisition to customer satisfaction, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing data science team that focuses on identifying key metrics, analyzing data trends, and translating insights into actionable strategies. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of analytics, strategy, and operational excellence. On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include
- Develops and mentors a high-performing analytics team, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the team’s overall performance, providing mentorship, guiding long-term development, and driving growth aligned with MN’s trajectory and business goals.
- Builds and leads a comprehensive analytics program that aligns with the company’s vision to be the premier infill homebuilder, focusing on market analysis, operational efficiency, and customer insights.
- Develops analytical models to evaluate, rank, and forecast land acquisition opportunities based on profitability, risk, and evolving market trends.
- Utilizes data analytics to optimize operations, reduce costs, and accelerate build timelines while upholding high construction quality standards.
- Leverages predictive analytics to forecast emerging trends, assess competitive positioning, and guide product offerings to maximize market share.
- Analyzes buyer preferences, demographics, and satisfaction metrics to enhance product design and marketing strategies.
- Synthesizes complex data from multiple departments (e.g. finance, sales, marketing) to create cohesive, actionable insights, weaving a clear narrative that drives strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Ensures compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Drives the adoption of advanced analytics tools and technologies, seamlessly integrating them into MN’s systems and processes.
- Defines and implements key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure success across various departments, ensuring that all teams understand and utilize data to drive performance.
- Partners closely with executives and departments such as sales, construction, design, finance, and marketing to ensure analytics are actionable and impactful.
- Manages department budget and resources responsibly.
- This position requires frequent use of a computer, including keyboard functions and visual acuity of 20 inches or fewer on a daily basis
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Be able to lift up to 10 pounds on occasion with or without accommodation
- Some travel within 10-mile radius
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of professional experience including 3+ years’ experience at a senior leadership level.
- Proven track record of developing and executing data strategies that align with business goals and drive key decision-making.
- Experience with tools like Python, R, SQL, and data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Proven ability to apply advanced analytics to solve business problems, optimize operations, and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Expertise in building and managing business intelligence (BI) platforms to provide real-time insights and reporting.
- Experience in real estate, construction, or homebuilding is preferred but not required.
- Advanced leadership development skills and experience empowering employees to do their best work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to understand the “big picture”.
- Exceptional communication and influence skills, ability to use data-driven storytelling to communicate effectively and persuade certain actions or decisions of stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses.
- Expertise in statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Well-versed across the entire data lifecycle (data pipeline management, data analysis, and visualization).
- A passion for identifying inefficiencies and uncovering undervalued opportunities through data analysis.
- Strong ability to grasp business priorities and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with financial modeling and key metrics in the homebuilding industry, such as IRR, ROI, and margin analysis.
- Models and reinforces actions and behaviors consistent with MN Custom Homes’ company values, mission, and culture.
