Data Analytics Student

What You’ll Be Working On

Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.

We are seeking a student to join us for a 4-month co-op position starting in May 2025. This position will be based out of Toronto, ON, Calgary or Edmonton AB. 

Responsibilities:

• Extract, transform, and load data from diverse data sources for data analysis and reporting uses

• Ensure data quality and perform data cleaning as needed

• Experience creating and maintaining reports, and dashboards in Power BI an asset

• Assist in analyzing historical construction data and improving data quality where needed

• Assist in data strategy efforts, including updating data flowcharts

• Support data science efforts by identifying machine learning and Python automation opportunities, sourcing and preparing data, and developing models and workflows for construction activities

• Complete data related courses

• Other duties as assigned by the Project Data Analyst

Who We Need On Our Team

• You are currently enrolled in a Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science program or equivalent.

• Experience with SQL and Python an asset.

• Knowledge of statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining, feature engineering.

• You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently.

• Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships.

• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

• Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.

• Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries.

• If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
