We are seeking a highly motivated PhD scientist with 0-3+ years or MS scientist with 4+ years of experience in agricultural sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural sciences with expertise in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, data insights, data science, predictive/prescriptive science, simulations, in-silico modeling, genetics, genomics or field operations. This position is based in Plano, Texas, and offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development initiatives within PepsiCo’s agricultural innovation team

Responsibilities

  • Use computational tools to analyze large datasets and derive actionable insights and advanced data analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate digital solutions across ag science research areas, driving innovation and enhancing outcomes
  • Lead research initiatives in ag science digital space, focusing on areas such as genetic gain, product design, linking products to genetics, improving agricultural productivity
  • Play a key role in ag science digital focus areas primarily around proof-of-concept development, generating validation data, and implementing optimization strategy
  • Apply data science techniques to build, test, and optimize data models using programming languages or other statistical and mathematical tools to solve complex agricultural challenges
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and work closely with both internal teams and external partners to support agricultural innovation initiatives
  • Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on the latest advancements in agricultural science and technology

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $76,400 - $127,850
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Plant Sciences, Genetics, or related field
  • PhD 0-3+ years or MS with 4+ years of relevant experience in agricultural research, with a strong focus on one or more of the following: machine learning, data analytics, genetics, genomics, field operations, data insights, data science, predictive/prescriptive science, data pipeline management, simulations, or in-silico modeling
  • Experience and enthusiasm for tackling analytical challenges with big datasets, using quantitative approaches to extract valuable insights and inform decision-making
  • Proficiency in building data models using programming languages such as R, Python, or other statistical and mathematical tools to develop, test, and optimize models
  • Creative, proactive, bold and out-of-box thinking
  • Understanding in Machine learning algorithms and concepts; familiarity with in-silico methods and tools is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to a broad audience
