Job Overview

The Data Quality Analyst is a developing professional role. Requires a good knowledge of the range of processes, procedures, and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasks and a basic understanding of the underlying concepts and principles upon which the job is based. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area. Makes evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information. They are expected to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents. Must be able to exchange information in a concise and logical way as well as be sensitive to audience diversity. Limited but direct impact on the business through the quality of the tasks/services provided. Impact of the job holder is restricted to own job.

The North American/Latin American (NAM/LATAM) Client Reporting Group is responsible for the quality of Financial and Demographic Data that is viewed by internal and external clients via the Private Banks online client applications as well as through various reporting mediums.

The group works closely with the Banking and Product teams, Investment Counselors, Portfolio Managers, Operations, Technology, and other Global Client Reporting teams. The Client Reporting Operations Analyst will report to the Data Quality team lead and will work to support the overall function of the NAM/LATAM Client Reporting Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and Investigate issues related to the processing of financial transactions for investment securities and banking products in a timely and accurate matter based on established SLAs.
  • Proactively drive improvements with quality of client reporting
  • Provide support and develop yourself as a subject matter expert on more complex day to day issues.
  • Identify operational transformation opportunities to improve current execution strategies and improve controls.
  • Detail-Oriented and able to demonstrate ability to multitask and produce high quality, accurate work.
  • Works with database developers to implement databases, performs data analytics and other strategies to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected.
  • Partners with business teams to prioritize business and information needs and develop process improvements, solutions, and streamline operational workflows.
  • Performs feasibility analysis for significant process changes.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources to maintain database systems. Identifies and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Uses professional judgment, discretion, and business expertise to resolve varied and complex issues that have notable impact on the business.
  • Integrates in-depth specialty area operational knowledge, combined with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices.
  • Communicates with tact and diplomacy in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information with project stake holders or internal parties.
  • Monitors performance and quality control plans to identify any issues or ways to improve systems and database designs. 
  • Participates in discussions and requirement gathering sessions, reaching consensus, and recommending solutions on issues and projects.
  • Tests features and functionality in planned software releases as needed.  
  • Supports requirements for ongoing reporting and audit deliverables as needed.     
  • Follows-up on incident tickets.
  • Performs other job duties and functions as assigned
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are needed to satisfy all job functions.
  • Ability to understand and follow financial data processing lineage.
  • Ability to operate efficiently in a time sensitive manner.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve complex financial data integrity issues through root cause analysis.
  • Experience in policy adherence, control effectiveness, and open communication.
  • Experience working with and running reports from a financial database using SQL programming language a plus.
  • Strong Investment and Banking Product knowledge, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferably in areas of Finance/Economics
  • 2-3 years of related experience in the Financial Services Industry, ideally in transactional operations/settlements
  • Experience with process improvements and risk management a plus.
  • Experience in improving operation efficiency by automating data exception reporting.
  • Experience working with Investment Performance measurement a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook. 
  • Intermediate ACCESS or Database Management experience preferred.
