Job Description

The Data Governance Analyst role is a supporting role within the data management function at MedHealth. This role will be responsible for the ongoing configuration and management of a new data governance tool for managing sensitive data across a variety of data assets. In addition, you will also contribute to data governance across Microsoft Office 365 applications such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange and others.

Reporting to the Data Manager, this role will be pivotal for the ongoing discovery, classification and management of data in our most important data assets. It involves application configuration for monitoring and alerting to ensure compliance with our Data Governance Framework and legislative requirements. You will also be responsible for investigating and resolving non-compliance incidents.

Key Duties include:

  • Taking ownership over the configuration and monitoring of a new data governance application that monitors data across highly sensitive data assets to ensure sensitive data is protected and data past retention requirements is deleted
  • Meeting the delivery timelines for the gradual rollout the new data governance tool to MedHealth data assets
  • Configuration and maintenance of on-going policies, alerts and monitoring of data to ensure compliance with our Data Governance Framework and regulatory requirements for data retention
  • Assist in investigating and resolving non-compliance with Data Governance controls in collaboration with Governance and Compliance team
  • Contribution to the development and maintenance of data governance policies across Microsoft Office 365 applications including data tagging, archiving, retention and deletion
  • Act as a point of contact for data governance related enquiries from staff and other departments including responding to service desk tickets as needed
  • Contribution to maturing and maintaining data governance mechanisms across all business applications including data discovery, classification and tagging, archiving, retention and deletion

Qualifications

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate: 

  • At least 4 years working in a similar role or one with transferable skills
  • Appropriate degree and/or industry qualifications and certifications
  • Understanding of data governance principles and concepts
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration functionality for governance and compliance including labelling for retention and deletion and tagging for sensitivity labels
  • Ability to work cross functionally with security, compliance and governance teams
  • Ability to pick up new technology quickly
  • Good understanding of project management to support the rollout of data governance initiatives across the business
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Prior experience in a business of similar size and scale with a tech stack comprising of Microsoft Office 365 applications, SMTB file shares, SQL databases, Azure Cloud Storage (such as blob storage and azure files), and multiple health case management applications
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting
  • Experience with Python programming for data analysis and processing for large data exports

Desirable but not Essential

  • Prior health sector experience or experience in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience with Securiti data governance application
