We’re looking for a Staff Data Infrastructure Engineer to join Procore's Data Mesh Division working on our FedRAMP initiative. In this role, you’ll help build Procore’s next-generation construction data platform for others to build upon, including Procore developers, analysts, partners, and customers.
As a Staff Data Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll partner with other engineers and product managers across Product & Technology to develop data infrastructures that adhere to the highest security standards that power the applications in Procore. This position reports to the Director of Data Mesh and will be based in our Austin, TX office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.
What you’ll do:
Participate in the design and implementation of our data platform, primarily focused on database management, data lake operations, streaming, and batch data processing
Lead our engineering team in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, functional and technical design, development, testing and roll-out, and support; deliver value in an iterative and agile fashion
Enable developers to quickly and effectively build and operate their software at scale by providing self-service data infrastructure capabilities
Help identify and propose solutions for technical gaps in our data platform by managing proof of concepts and experiments
Work alongside our Product, UX, and other engineering teams, leveraging your experience and expertise in the data space to influence our product roadmap, developing innovative solutions that add additional capabilities to Procore
Coach, support, and uplevel teammates through providing regular feedback, mentorship, training, and other career development opportunities; as well as removing barriers to progress
Stay up to date with the latest data technology trends
What we’re looking for:
Solid understanding of operating relational and non-relational databases (i.e. PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Elastic Cache, DynamoDB, Mongo etc.) and streaming (Kafka, Flink), batch (Spark) technologies at scale and DataBricks
Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment Tooling (CircleCI, Github, ArgoCD)
4+ years of experience as a DBA/DBE in at least one of the database technologies cited above.
4+ years of experience building and operating cloud-based, highly available, and scalable data platforms supporting large amounts of data at enterprise-grade companies serving millions of users
Experience and proficiency in managing infrastructure as code, such as Terraform
Experience with AWS (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, etc.)
Experience with Kubernetes & Container-based hosting strategies
Understanding of data access patterns, site reliability engineering, security, and cost optimization
Strong ability to lead and support others, influence platform decisions, and uplevel talent
Strong passion for learning, always open to new technologies and ideas
Additional Information
Base Pay Range $168,560 - $231,770. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
