Who We Are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra—we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home —just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About The Role

Reporting to the DSS Catchment Planning & Engineering Area Manager, this 6 month, full time contract role will see you collaborate with engineers and internal teams to ensure the correct data and information is included in relevant systems, supporting the informed and timely delivery of the DSS review programs as well as other business decision-making, audits, and remediation processes.

Your analytical expertise will be relied upon as you ensure the integrity and accuracy of data across the Development Services Scheme (DSS) systems, and compliance audit requirements are met.

In this role you will:

  • Provide high-level analytical support to engineering and finance teams, providing actionable insights to inform the DSS review processes. Our successful candidate will have demonstrated professional background in data management and GIS.
  • Develop and improve data management and reporting systems, which includes communicating complex data matters to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Take ownership of ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data across internal systems, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Use data to forecast future trends and predict outcomes.

About You

  • Your experience in data management means that you can collaborate with engineering, planning, IT and finance teams to inform the data analysis, and ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • You can identity data risks and have the integrity to flag those that may impact on DSS financial and engineering reviews. You will keep the data ‘honest’ whilst ensuring Melbourne Water stays true to its mandate to deliver for new communities.
  • You have the energy and mental agility to solve problems and be part of the ongoing conversations with internal stakeholders as we all journey towards building Melbourne’s new communities.
  • Experience conducting GIS analysis of spatial data for accuracy and identification of improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to drive system and process improvements, ensuring robust and accurate data flows from the point of creation.
