Serve Robotics aims to develop dependable and proficient sidewalk autonomy software. Our Autonomy team is looking for a Lead Simulation Engineer, you will spearhead the development of a state-of-the-art simulation and test infrastructure, tailored to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of our Autonomy and Quality Assurance teams. You will lead a small team of 3-4 talented individuals and collaborate with external agencies to achieve strategic objectives. Your expertise in cloud infrastructure, robotics simulator software particularly Nvidia’s Isaac Simulation or Gazebo, will be pivotal in shaping the technical roadmap and driving key decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive simulation and automation test infrastructure to support autonomous robot development, safety scenario testing and improving QA processes.

  • Own and manage the strategic roadmap for Simulation and Re-sim, including technical planning, use-case analysis, and buy vs. build decision-making.

  • Manage a team of 3-4 contributors and external software consulting firms, with opportunities for further growth.

  • Develop simulation and test infrastructure for Autonomy and QA team including:

    • Log replay capabilities

    • Simulation scenarios for all of our diverse capabilities, including:

      • Modeling of robot dynamics

      • Scenarios for different ODD segments and safety cases

      • Modeling of sensor data

    • Metrics generation pipelines

    • CI/CD test infrastructure

    • Test tracking tooling

  • Ideate and develop strategies for packaging simulation software for CI/CD deployment, ensuring ease of use and integration.

  • Be an active contributor to the Simulation software codebase.

  • Foster a collaborative team environment, providing mentorship and direction to team members.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years demonstrated experience in leading a team within a simulation or test automation infrastructure environment, preferably within the robotics or autonomous vehicle sector.

  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure setup and management, with experience deploying complex simulation systems.

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Nvidia’s Isaac Simulation or Gazebo or comparable simulation tools.

  • Experience implementing CI/CD frameworks for large systems.

  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience as a people manager or team lead.

  • Production quality programming experience in C++ and Python.

  • Demonstrated skill leading large system designs, gathering system requirements and identifying key stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
