Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Intelligence Developer to join our growing wholesale/retail apparel company. This role will be crucial in supporting our business operations by developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting business intelligence solutions, primarily focusing on reporting and data analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, excellent SQL skills, and extensive experience with BusinessObjects WebIntelligence. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, provide user support, and ensure data accuracy. Experience in the apparel industry, particularly within the supply chain is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using BusinessObjects WebIntelligence, adhering to user and management specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing reports, utilizing strong SQL skills to identify and correct data discrepancies or performance bottlenecks.
- Rigorously validate new and existing reports to guarantee data accuracy and integrity.
- Provide comprehensive support to the user community, addressing their reporting needs and technical questions.
- Schedule, monitor, and ensure the timely delivery of executive reports.
- Generate ad-hoc executive reports as required.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of our data warehouse environment.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest BI trends and technologies.
- Document report specifications, data sources, and other relevant technical information.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and data quality.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (Minimum Requirements):
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems/Technologies, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with BusinessObjects WebIntelligence reporting tool, including report design, development, and deployment.
- 5+ years of strong SQL skills, including the ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.
- Experience using Python for Data cleaning and Analytics.
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts and data warehousing principles.
- Experience with data modeling and ETL processes is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and committed to data accuracy.
- Experience in the apparel industry, specifically within the supply chain , is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Jesta Vision Supply and Demand, Oracle Retail, Shopify, Netsuite Financials)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other BI tools and technologies.
- Experience with data visualization best practices.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
- Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
- Deep understanding of procurement, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain optimization principles, including identifying bottlenecks and driving efficiency.
- Knowledge of fashion trends, product lifecycles, sales channels (wholesale, e-commerce, DTC), and key retail metrics (e.g., sell-through, conversion rate).
- Familiarity with garment manufacturing complexities, from fabric sourcing and construction to quality control.
- Understanding of the competitive apparel retail landscape, including major players, emerging brands, and online marketplaces.
- Knowledge of apparel supply chain hurdles such as lead times, production delays, and inventory management complexities.
