The Role

 

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Wealth Management (GWM) Chief Data Office (CDO) and supports the Director in ensuring specific individual & team goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the Bank’s Data Strategy. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

  • Champions a data driven & customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Provides CDO support to business line domains, technology partners and Enterprise Data Governance team in Data Management & Data Governance implementation including Enterprise Data Management tool onboarding and training.
  • Responsible for project and portfolio level reporting for all initiatives/projects; includes tracking, status reporting, executive dashboards etc.
  • Establishes and maintains stakeholder and executive management relationships to effectively influence strategic priorities 
  • Act as the point person to ensure the assigned initiatives are accomplished from an end-to-end perspective, including initiative intake, project onboarding, and delivery.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and within the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture
  • May periodically lead strategic projects or initiatives.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment 
  • Builds talent within CIDA

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Strong knowledge of data management/data governance processes and best practices
  • Proven delivery experience, Agile experience an asset
  • Knowledge of Scotiabank’s operations in order to understand and lead the implementation of strategic initiatives across a number of disciplines preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities
  • Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization 
  • Exceptional leadership skills to motivate and align individuals and team with diverse skill sets and experience. 
  • Strong relationship management with an ability to establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments and partners across the organization
  • Ability to manage in an environment of significant transformation and change while maintaining a high level of engagement and focus 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate to various levels within the organization.
  • Solutions oriented and ability to develop and create innovative solutions to critical business or organizational data issues
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Collibra

  • Work in a hybrid work from home/ ecosystem-based environment; non-standard hours are an occasional occurrence.
