About the Position
We are strengthening our analytics team with a Business Analyst in Performance Analytics to develop and enable data-driven, customer-centric strategic decisions through user-friendly reports. In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop powerful KPIs and steering components, leveraging modern databases and analytics tools.
As a Performance Analyst in Fortum Consumer Solutions, you will always have the end-user in mind, ensuring that data and insights are truly valuable by combining analytics, communication, and visualization skills. You are not afraid to apply innovative techniques where needed, and your curiosity constantly drives you forward.
With a high degree of autonomy, you are confident in your ability to manage stakeholders and collaborate effectively to identify new areas for support and improvement across a Nordic organization. Ideal candidates have a few years of relevant experience, thrive in the space between data engineering and business, and possess an analytical mindset with experience working with Microsoft Power BI and SQL.
The role is part of a Nordic team of four people and reports to the Performance Analytics Manager. This sub-team is part of the broader Performance Analytics and Insights team of nine people. The position can be based at one of our Nordic campuses in Norway, Sweden, or Finland.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst in Performance Analytics, you will collaborate with various teams across the Nordic Customers organization, including sales & service, payment & invoicing, among others, to understand their business needs. To enhance the quality and availability of data, you will act as a bridge between the Nordic Customers teams and the internal data team, providing input on logic, harmonization, definitions, and new data requirements to support the development and maintenance of data pipelines.
Your responsibilities will include both short- and long-term projects, as well as ad-hoc tasks. You will strive to automate tasks whenever possible. In addition to developing KPIs and data models upon request, you will proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Your autonomy and flexibility in creating solutions allow you to leverage the best tools for the job, including advanced methods such as machine learning when appropriate.
As the link between data engineers and the business, you will ensure end-users are informed and educated about new models, KPIs, and reports. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other analysts to build the best overall solutions and share best practices across different areas. Along with other analysts, you will also be responsible for managing the Power BI app, including access rights, automation, and documentation.

About you
- Higher education in a relevant field (e.g., technology, economics, statistics) with an emphasis on quantitative subjects.
- Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R, and visualization tools like Power BI.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including:
- Advanced knowledge of DAX and M languages, understanding their strengths and limitations.
- Ability to serve as a Power BI Service workspace admin and champion an insight-driven culture.
- Experience to work with data warehouses or data lakes (e.g., Azure, Databricks), including writing queries and using notebooks (e.g., Databricks, Jupyter).
- Relevant work experience with a proven track record of driving business growth or improving collaboration through data visualization.
- Experience in machine learning is an advantage but not a requirement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and at least one Nordic language. Fortum’s working language is English.
Personal Qualifications
To succeed in this position, you need strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to structured problem-solving. A commercial mindset, high drive, and target orientation are key, along with effective communication and relationship-building skills. Being self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks efficiently is crucial, as is maintaining attention to detail. You should also be curious and innovative, with a focus on applying new technologies, automating tasks, and utilizing hypothesis testing in problem-solving.
