Principal Data Scientist

The Role

As a Principal Data Scientist on the People's Analytics team at Fidelity Investments, you will apply your expertise to drive impactful insights and solutions. You will work on complex data problems, develop advanced analytics, and deliver production-ready machine learning models that address key business challenges. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to define problems, extract and prepare data, and communicate findings to senior business leaders.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• PhD in STEM with 4+ years of relevant experience in data science, or Bachelor's with 8+ years

• Hands-on expertise in data extraction, cleaning, and preparation; feature extraction; model training and evaluation

• Proven experience building analytics that deliver useful insights from large datasets

• Consistent record of delivering production machine learning tools that solve business problems

• Experience working on projects with graph analytics and graph databases is a plus

The Skills You Bring

• Excellent programming skills in Python

• Excellent experience in standard machine learning approaches, statistics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and deep learning techniques

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive problem definitions and meet business requirements

• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking to identify and prioritize opportunities for using data and analytics

• Proficiency in SQL for database querying and management

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS

• Bonus points for building production ML model containers at scale (Docker, SageMaker, Flask)
