THE JOB
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with expertise in Databricks to join our regional team. This is a hands-on role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and systems to support comprehensive business reporting across various areas in the ticketing industry. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong initiative and a demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating with global teams and regional stakeholders to structure and execute the vision of a data-driven company.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines using Databricks to integrate data from diverse sources, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with managing directors, regional product leads, department leads, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and align data solutions with the vision of a data-driven organization.
- Workflow Optimization: Optimize data workflows to ensure scalability, reliability, and high performance.
- ETL Processes: Develop and manage ETL processes to collect, clean, and transform data, enabling a unified view for key business reporting.
- Vision Execution: Support and execute initiatives to transform the organization into a data-centric company by providing robust and scalable data infrastructure.
- Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve data issues, conducting root cause analysis to uphold data quality.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all data engineering processes and pipelines.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in data engineering and Databricks.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and workflows. Strong understanding of Data Lakes and Data Warehouses is essential.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in data engineering with Python and/or PySpark is mandatory.
- Demonstrated Track Record: Evidence of initiative and ownership through successfully delivered projects or previous roles.
- Databricks Experience: Hands-on experience in creating and optimizing pipelines within the Databricks platform.
- SQL Proficiency: Advanced skills in SQL and a solid grasp of data modeling concepts.
- ETL Processes: Familiarity with ETL tools and workflows.
- AWS Experience: Practical experience working in AWS environments.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
