Senior Machine Learning Scientist

On the Compass Innovation Lab team, we are building cutting edge AI driven products aimed at integrating Artificial Intelligence into everyday real estate workflows on the Compass platform.  As we continue to build and improve this platform, we will work closely with our agents to understand how we can shape our tools to provide the most value to their business.

Working in the Compass Innovation Lab team will give you the opportunity to develop products leveraging exciting new AI technologies, and the platform that powers those products. Your work will make an immediate transformational impact on our agents' day to day lives. The AI team is responsible for using machine learning to build features which empower our agents through intelligent tools, and add intelligence to our consumer facing products. We have leveraged our extensive real estate data pipeline to build a number of internal models to help expand opportunities for our agents to identify potential business, and to improve their chances of success in closing more transactions. Among them are models to improve our ability to identify properties with a high likelihood to sell based on market dynamics, as well as to help match potential listings to agents that would have an increased likelihood of success in winning the business and closing the transaction based on the ideal price range which they operate in. 

We're seeking a Senior ML Scientist to advance our machine learning initiatives by creating and deploying robust, scalable models that provide our agents with critical tools to increase their success.

What you will do:  

• Work in an agile, startup-like environment building products and services
• Use your machine learning skills to explore and deeply understand Compass’s data
• Perform feature engineering and modeling tasks on top of this data to power customer facing features
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to produce features in a production ready state.
• Support machine learning features throughout the product life cycle.
• Participate in developing and maintaining KPI dashboards.
• Conduct exploratory and causal analysis on the utility of AI products for our customers.
• Communicate results and findings with various stakeholders within the organization.
• Participate in daily team meetings, and be part of an on-call rotation for your team’s products
• Create clear and concise documentation (diagrams, service descriptions, decisions, runbooks)

What we look for: 

• Extensive experience (6+ years) working in a data science or machine learning role demonstrating a proven track record of delivering models at scale
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science such as Python or R, along with experience using machine learning frameworks and tooling such as Spark, PyTorch, SciKit learn, etc.
• Strong understanding of machine learning models and their application for various use cases.
• Ability to translate business problems into a data-driven solution framework.
• Ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product managers on a product-focused, iterative team
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to share your work with non-technical audiences
• Comfortable building ML models from scratch
• Familiarity with developing dashboards using Tableau, Looker etc.
• Experience with the AWS environment
• BS or MS in Computer Science/Machine Learning or equivalent

Compensation: Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $131,800-$197,100 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
