Mission – Why we exist and why we need you 
Geothermal energy is the most abundant renewable energy source in the world. There is 2,300 times more energy in geothermal heat in the ground than in oil, gas, coal, and methane combined. However, historically it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar, we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal a cheap and vital contributor to a carbon-free electrical grid. We are revolutionizing the exploration process, setting new industry standards for discovery rates and finding new prospects at an unprecedented scale. To reduce risk and improve outcomes, we rely on novel software and machine learning modeling.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a critical role developing, maintaining, and securing Zanskar’s growing infrastructure to make scaled geothermal energy a reality. A successful candidate will be a trusted leader who can structure new processes and optimize resources for both short-term goals and long-term growth. Strong communication skills are essential, as the Engineer will collaborate with research, engineering, geoscience, land analysis, and field teams. Startup experience is a plus.
Competencies – What we’re looking for
Minimum 7+ years experience in software engineering in a business environment.Experience leading engineering and infrastructure projects with high independence.Proven technical skills: - Proven experience developing, maintaining, and securing cloud infrastructure. Our cloud stack is built on GCP, in particular Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and Compute Engine following security best practices using IAM and cloud networking.- Proven experience implementing and maintaining infrastructure as code (Terraform experience preferred)- Proven experience collaborating on code (e.g., GitHub) and building and deploying containerized (i.e., Docker) services and applications with CI/CD pipelines- Familiarity maintaining and evolving databases (Snowflake and Postgres preferred)- Fluency in Python and SQL are a bonus
