A Brief Overview

This is a key position in leading and running the reinsurance administration team in the processing and analysis of client data and the provision of information to internal and external areas and act as the key liaison expert with the local business units to provide a holistic data structure to derive one source of truth with both the front office and support functions. Working closely with other corporate functions in Pricing, Finance and Valuation to support experience monitoring and for financial reporting and other management reporting needs. Manage reinsurance treaties covering various insurance products, supported by appropriate data governance framework and processing procedures in place. Interacts with client on the day-to-day reinsurance administration operations support and resolve issues and provides customer service to maintain/enhance client relationships.

What you will do

• Ensure that the data is accurate for input to accounting records, valuation systems, regulatory returns and other required information for both business and financial reporting purposes.
• Responsible for the data governance processes, which includes the assessment and remediation of data quality related issues; participating in the development of local, divisional and corporate standards, procedures; and overall process improvements.
• Lead and mentor the data management team in building and maintaining the administration systems, procedures, and documentation to successfully administer business and address business needs.
• Build and execute the data strategy and plan. This will include capability and roadmap development as well as identify areas of priority.
• Define and document business needs as formal requirements and communicate these with the corresponding stakeholders to devise appropriate solutions, while ensuring the solution supports the business unit.
• Maintain and foster internal and external client relationships. This includes taking ownership of these relationships to understand their needs, ensure their objectives are met; leading the effort to deliver effective, reliable and robust solutions to our clients; and ensuring on-going communication with the client throughout the administration life cycle. Establish and implement internal and external process for effective customer relationships.
• Perform data mining and analytics to support ongoing continuous risk monitoring and risk assessments of operational or financial data to recognize patterns and trends.
• Facilitate and provide financial analytics on pricing and product profitability, working closely with the actuarial team.
• Collaborate with the product development team to define data analytics that can be integrated into our business models and opportunities.
• Focus on Risk Management as part of the operational processing routine, perform regular checking on the results to ensure the appropriate risk profile of our business are captured and being reported accordingly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) finance, statistics, business or accounting, related degree or equivalent experience required
• 10+ Years relevant experience working in the insurance sector, with emphasis on financial and management reporting, and reinsurance operations with the understanding of the end-to-end holistic view of the business processing required
• Management experience leading a medium sized team required
• Ability to participate in or may lead projects or any other initiatives of the function and/or the business required
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required
• Creative, flexible, motivated and responsive required
• Demonstrate effective time management, conflict resolution and team management required
• Client focused (both external and internal) required
• Knowledge in SQL, Python is a plus
• Proficiency in English and Cantonese is highly preferred
