As a Quantitative Researcher, you will develop nonlinear multivariate statistical models to analyze power and natural gas market on the commodity trading desk.

How you will make an impact…

  • Quantitatively analyze demand/supply/stock/flow data in electricity/natural gas/carbon/REC markets and discover the relationships among variables
  • Build predictive tools
  • Discover and investigate new data sources
  • Assist in the development of analytical tools
  • Communicate the outcome of the models to the team members in a clear and concise manner

You will be right at home if you have…

  • A PhD degree in a technical discipline with a focus on statistics, biostatistics, applied mathematics, or economics with a specialization in econometrics graduating between December 2024 and August 2025, or currently hold a Postdoc position
  • Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, etc.)
  • Specialization in time series estimation (VAR) and nonlinear estimation of multivariate models. Experience and understanding pattern recognition models or approaches is a plus.
  • A willingness to learn power and natural gas markets and the ability to work with large data sets
  • The ability and desire to implement models with UIs in an internal system
  • Previous work or internship experience in building predictive models
  • Can advocate for your beliefs in a concise and effective way with the team
  • Strong problem-solving and statistics skills
  • The proactive ability to take the lead on assignments and deliver practical research results in a timely manner
