Overview

The Alfaro-Moreno Research Group is laboratory dedicated to excellence in scientific research on developing methods to assess the toxicity and safety of nanomaterials, with a broad approach evaluating from possible effects on humans to environmental effects. The goal of the group is to evaluate cytotoxic, genotoxic, inflammation, local and systemic effects and in silico analysis. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) to ensure the quality and integrity of our work.

 

The selected candidate will be working on the LEARN and iCare project.

 

 

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Develop new in silico models to evaluate what properties of nanomaterials may be responsible for health and environmental effects;
  • Develop in silico models to predict the potential effects of new nanomaterials;
  • Lead the work related to the development of a comprehensive in silico pipeline for data integration (e.g., data pre-processing and transformation), data consolidation (e.g., data augmentation techniques), analysis and read-across methods, in the frame of the iCare Project;
  • Publish the developed computational framework companion with documented and standardised public dataset.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

 

Education

  • Ph.D. in Toxicological Sciences, and related areas.

 

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Cheminformatics, including QSAR, QSPR, QSTR;
  • Bioinformatics and functional analysis;
  • Complex network analysis;
  • Knowledge of Python;
  • Strong statistical knowledge.

 

Other Valued Skills

  • Machine learning;
  • Working with Orange;
  • Biomodelling and docking models;
  • Biokinetic and PBK models.

 

Personal Skills

  • Team spirit with ability to work independently and as team player;
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to peers with different backgrounds;
  • Critical mind-set;

How the Selection Process works
 

A. Applications eligibility check

The question based interview will evaluate the match between the candidate’s profile and the requirements for the position, including the technical and personal skills. To better support this stage, the candidate may be requested to prepare a short presentation.

 

D. Nomination
