MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The individual shall have completed at least two years towards a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or similar technical major with emphasis in AI at an accredited university.


The individual shall have laboratory and testing experience in a team environment.


Experience using Matlab and associated ML/NN toolboxes along with Python Scikit-Learn is strongly preferred. Experience in developing, training, and verifying AI models is highly desirable. 


The individual shall have working knowledge of digital data acquisition systems preferably using Matlab / Simulink.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MS and PhD candidates are preferred.
 

ABOUT THE JOB!

The Engineering Intern shall work closely with Engineers and Management to support new product development (NPD) efforts with focus on next generation Oxygen Masks and Test Sets. The intern will be mentored and provided opportunities to develop appropriate Artificial Intelligence architectures (e.g. Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks, Associative Memories, etc.) to enhance and accelerate characterization, modelling and simulation efforts.  

The intern will utilize technical knowledge and skills acquired in academia to develop solutions to real world engineering challenges. The Engineering Intern will further develop their technical and professional skills by collaborating with internal and external resources to achieve program objectives.

Duration: 8-10 week assignment on site.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Required:

  • Working knowledge of AI architectures (e.g. ML, ANN, AM, etc.)
  • Hands-on laboratory and testing experience in a team environment
  • Work under supervision, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and activities, prepare and present technical options and produce accurate timely results
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, curious, motivated, results-driven and possess strong communication and team skills
  • Strong data analysis skills utilizing MS Excel / Matlab / Python

Preferred:

  • Experience in developing, training, and verifying AI models
  • Experience with Matlab and associated ML/NN toolboxes
  • Experience with Python Scikit-Learn or Pytorch
  • Familiarity with image processing / computer vision; especially related to measuring hardware geometrical attributes (length, radius, classifying type of curvature)
  • Working knowledge of signal analysis in time domain and frequency domain
  • Ability to setup data acquisition systems to collect / extract test data using Matlab / Simulink (under supervision of the DAQ engineers)
  • Technical and practical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-pneumatic systems

Beneficial:

  • Familiarity with breathing systems such as medical ventilators and / or industrial respirators
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings with awareness of basic engineering drafting practices, principles, standards, and conventions
  • Ability to generate SolidWorks models for FEA, CFD and other Analysis and Simulations
  • Ability to navigate, understand and operate existing test panels running on LabVIEW
