The Office of Assessment and Evaluation supports the MD Program with all aspects of student assessment and course and program evaluation. The Office provides expertise in data management, psychometrics, quantitative and qualitative research, and consults on program-related assessment and evaluation activities with course directors, curriculum leadership, and stakeholders within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, across the University, and with partners cofacilitating medical education.

As the Data and Information Analyst you will support the Office of Assessment and Evaluation within the MD Program in conducting detailed data analysis and producing complex statistical information. The incumbent will work primarily with program evaluation data collected through MD program’s learning management system, assessment data collected through the program’s assessment systems, and analytics and surveys conducted in support of program evaluation. You will be responsible for creating data tools to support evidence-based decision-making in the areas of program evaluation, student assessment, accreditation, and other key portfolios. You will utilize your strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to advance important milestones and initiatives across the Office of Assessment and Evaluation.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision-making including developing & maintaining dashboards using Power BI or equivalent tools.
  • Producing complex statistical information and generating reports; Analyzingand developing program scripts to extract, reformat, and analyze datasets and dataflow in R, Python, SAS, and/or equivalent tools.
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected.
  • Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods including designing surveys, interviews, and other research tools for program evaluation.
  • Designing and delivering presentations.
  • Planning and implementing project phases and maintaining project quality control standards.
  • Supporting specific Information Systems in the MD program and Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT system.
  • Testing and analyzing new and upgraded software and/or hardware; assessing needs andcontributing to the development of business systems.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on quantitative research methodologies (including statistics), or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience, with data wrangling & analysis, preferably in a higher education setting, teaching hospital, or related public sector environment.
  • Strong technical skills: advanced understanding of data management, statistical software, and data.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of statistical applications such as R, Python, SAS or other such equivalent tools.
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerBI or Tableau, MS Office (including the use of Pivot Tables). Intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience in conducting, analyzing, and reporting on quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research.
  • Experience with survey and focus group design/administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports for leadership, complete systematic literature searches and summaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing project phases.
  • Proficiency with testing software and hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Information Systems preferably in a Higher Education or related settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing needs in relation to the development of business systems.
  • Ability to probe for information to establish needs and respond to data requests.
  • Experience working with survey tools such as Qualtrics, REDCap or other such equivalent tools.
  • Strong interaction skills: oral and written communication skills to develop meaningful visualizations and to explain complex statistical analyses to decision makers and other stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, having the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, systems thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and analytical thinking.
  • Commitment and respect for confidentiality.


Assets(Nonessential):

 

 

  • Familiarity with learning management systems such as Medical Student Information System (MedSIS), Repository of Student Information (ROSI), Assessment systems such as ExamSoft, RISR:assess or other comparable systems.
