The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope of Position

Supports the development and deployment of data collections solutions based on the application of AI, data engineering and data science technologies to solve business challenges. Understands manufacturing systems and the data they generate in support of next gen IT solutions. Works under general supervision with work reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy. May take on moderate size projects or several components of a large project. Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.  

Key Responsibilities

• Provides clients with information by designing methods to collect and retrieve data.
• Collects data by identifying sources of information and designing survey and collection methods.
• Establishes and revises database by conferring with analysts and programmers to code and retrieve data.
• Organizes information by studying, analyzing, interpreting, and classifying data.
• Resolves retrieval problems by altering design to meet requirements.
• Support the enhancement and success of existing systems solutions. 
• Maintains database by entering data.
• Accurately deliver project commitments on time. 
• Utilize strong communication skills to interact with project team members and plant customers in the testing and deployment of digital solutions. 
• Build and maintain effective partnerships within the IT digital team and with appropriate digital project team members. 
• Engage with plant functions and teams to educate and enable a methods to collect and retrieve data as a mind-set. 
• Identifies client requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual clients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
• Maintains corporate confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelors or degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or similar scientific degree. 
• 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment. 
• 2 years .NET knowledge 
• 2 years Programming languages C #, VB.Net, ASP MVC Web Applications, ASP.NET 
• 2 years Knowledge of TSQL (stored procedures, views, jobs, SSIS) 
• 1 year experience working with several projects as a member or leading
• Business English skills. This includes written and verbal communication abilities, with a high degree of comfort conducting business transactions, negotiations, and presentations in English.

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Experience with big data, data engineering, and maintaining data pipelines. 
• Technical familiarity of cloud data platforms like Databricks, S3, Parquet and Delta Lake. 
• Understanding of the Data Lifecycle Management and ELT/ETL processes to collect, access, use, store, transfer, delete data. 
• Working knowledge of ML and MLOps
• Working knowledge of scripting languages (iOS, Powershell, Bash, Java, etc.). 
• Experience with GenAI and prompt engineering. 
• Self-motivated with a passion for digital technologies
