Team Description:
Using a variety of tools and platforms, the GIS Security Architecture & Engineering team takes on use cases from Information Security Stakeholders at The Walt Disney Company, crafting solutions that increase business agility, reduce costs, optimize resources, and manage the complexity associated with Information Security tools and processes. This function supports tracking the value we return to TWDC and commits to returning time and money savings back to the organization each year.
Responsibilities of Role:
The Manager of Data Strategy and Engineering leads the development and execution of the GIS security data strategy, ensuring the scalability, security, and performance of data systems. This role requires collaboration with data architects, engineers, analysts, and cybersecurity teams to build and maintain data pipelines, products, and governance frameworks that meet business needs. The Manager will oversee a team of data engineers and analysts, and developers ensuring efficient and high-quality data delivery for internal stakeholders, particularly in the cybersecurity domain.
Data Strategy & Governance: Lead the development and implementation of data management strategies, governance policies, and best practices to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility.
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of data engineers, analysts, and architects, fostering collaboration and high performance.
Data Infrastructure & Management: Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable data systems and databases, ensuring their optimization for performance, security, and data availability.
Data Pipelines & Automation: Manage the development and optimization of ETL processes and data pipelines to support business intelligence, analytics, and product delivery.
Data Quality & Issue Resolution: Establish data quality standards and work with stakeholders to ensure compliance. Lead root cause analysis and resolve data-related issues.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal teams and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure the delivery of effective data products and solutions.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation on data architecture, design, and implementation. Provide regular status updates to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Security & Compliance: Ensure all data management practices adhere to security standards and compliance requirements, especially within cybersecurity initiatives.
Must Haves:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management, development or engineering fields
Expertise in data management technologies, including ETL processes, data architecture, SQL, data lakes, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and automation tools.
Strong knowledge of data storage platforms such as Elasticsearch, RDS and MySQL.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Strong communication abilities to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience managing data products for cybersecurity teams.
Nice To Haves:
Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role overseeing technical teams.
Knowledge of machine learning, business intelligence platforms, and data science techniques.
Experience with automated deployment, cloud security, and data compliance.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
#DISNEYTECH
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $167,700 to $224,900 per year and in Seattle, WA is $175,800 - $235,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
