Senior Data Scientist- AI

As AI engineer you will be responsible for design and deployment of advanced AI solutions using payment data and solve unique problems that have a broad impact on the business.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Director, Data Science and Development.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

• Recognized as a technical expert within the job discipline and requires in-depth and breadth of expertise in own job discipline and broad knowledge of other job disciplines within the job discipline group. Solve unique problems that have a broad impact on the business – accountability typically spans multiple products or across a line of business

• Demonstrate proficiency with Azure AI offerings, Databricks, and Snowflake, using these platforms to design and deploy advanced AI solutions.

• Participate in creating the structure for production data science workloads across the enterprise including leading on best practices, pipeline controls, and overall management of model deployment.

• Partner with data engineering and other payment technology teams to design and deploy AI solutions

• Lead the design and construction of AI models to enhance understanding of Moneris primary business and adjacent opportunities. Work is conducted based on an understanding of specific priorities.

• Design and implement AI systems incorporating Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve complex challenges.

• Build and perfect statistical techniques to achieve desired accuracy for existing projects and create solutions that help Moneris exceed current performance levels

• Develop processes to monitor model performance across the production deployment and use these tools to support engagement with other data scientists and business leads.

• Collaborate with developers, business leaders, and other data scientists to embed data science findings within analysis.

• Use Microsoft Power Apps to develop scalable, user-friendly interfaces for AI-driven applications, enhancing business usability and adoption.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

• PhD or master's degree in a quantitative field required, or equivalent work experience.

• 10+ years' experience in data science/computer engineering

• 2+ years' experience in Payments industry dealing with Fraud and Risk related areas

• Hands-on experience developing AI solutions

• Experience in production data science pipeline management and deployment of models in a production environment.

• Proficient in multiple programming languages and can code.

• Experience with Azure AI services, Databricks, and Snowflake, with experience integrating these tools into production-grade AI workflows.

• Familiarity with RAG frameworks, multimodal LLMs, and their application in real-world scenarios

• Proficient in leading large-scale projects or project steps and communicating progress/approach with technical/non-technical peers/clients and leaders. 

• Proficient in engaging/influencing audiences, building relationships, to achieve broader organizational goals.
