The Senior Data Scientist will drive business insights by leveraging statistical, machine learning, and AI methodologies. Key responsibilities include manipulating and preparing structured and unstructured data, developing advanced modeling algorithms, and presenting insights to stakeholders while articulating their implications. This role involves direct engagement with business users to understand their challenges, develop technical strategies, and deliver value to the Biologics Operations unit. The ideal candidate will blend hands-on operational experience with computational science skills, strong communication abilities, and experience in applying data science within an operations environment. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will mentor junior team members and champion the application of data science and its potential.

Accountabilities

Business Engagement and Technology Solution Development
• Relationship Building: Establish strong working relationships with Biologics Operations to develop an in-depth understanding of business needs.
• Problem Translation: Translate unstructured, complex business problems into appropriate model and algorithm solutions.
• Operational Understanding: Leverage sufficient knowledge of the operations domain to work independently with relevant data sources, systems, and tools, and gain credibility with the business.

Data Science and Analytics
• Data Familiarization: Develop a robust understanding of relevant AZ data sources, including their quality and structure.
• Data Preparation: Utilize data manipulation and preparation skills, including SQL and Python, to prepare data for analysis.
• Machine Learning: Apply experience in machine learning using unsupervised and supervised methods.
• Analytical Techniques: Use analytical techniques for deriving knowledge from unstructured text.
• Insight Extraction: Hands-on experience of interrogating real-world datasets to gain actionable insights.
• Communication: Explain complex methods and techniques to non-technical audiences.

SharePoint Development and Maintenance
• Site Development: Expertly design, develop, implement, and maintain SharePoint sites.
• Customization: Customize and develop advanced SharePoint components, including site pages, Web Parts, User Interface Design, Forms, and Lists.
• Application Development: Develop and optimize SharePoint applications using OOB features, custom Lists, and Content Types.
• Form Development: Expertise in developing and converting forms using InfoPath, Nintex, PowerApps, and Microsoft Flow.
• Workflow Expertise: Manage and convert workflows using Nintex and SharePoint Designer.
• Solution Implementation: Implement and customize advanced SharePoint-based solutions using best practices.
• Testing and Documentation: Perform unit and functional testing, develop test cases, and document technical features.

Business Intelligence and Reporting
• Application Development: Design, develop, and optimize high-performing PowerBI applications.
• Dashboard Design: Lead the creation of complex BI dashboards and scorecards to support business strategies using PowerBI.
• Data Model Configuration: Configure PowerBI data models for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• User Support: Provide expert-level support and training for users on PowerBI applications and visualizations.
• Limitations Communication: Communicate PowerBI software limitations and propose supportable design alternatives.

In addition, candidates will be expected to demonstrate:
• Team Participation: Actively contribute to the Lean Digital Transformation and Biologics Operations delivery POD team, benefiting from and supporting the development of Data Science capabilities.
• Mentorship: Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their growth and development.
• Project Delivery & Analysis: Utilize experience in project delivery and business analysis to effectively identify and address business needs.
• Innovation: Show strong innovation skills by proactively seeking creative solutions and driving continuous improvements.
• Agile & SCRUM Expertise: Apply Agile and SCRUM methodologies to ensure effective project management and timely delivery of results.
• Communication & Facilitation: Demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills, working collaboratively with others to achieve shared objectives.
• Strong Communication Skills: Exhibit strong written and verbal communication abilities, with fluency in English.
• Technology Adaptability: Lead efforts to adopt and implement appropriate technologies while maintaining a proactive attitude toward learning new tools.
• Compliance: Uphold company values and adhere to the Code of Conduct and relevant policies and standards in all activities.
• Training & Reporting: Ensure timely completion of required training, report potential compliance issues, and adhere to all policy and standard requirements.
• Collaboration & Tools Proficiency: Be proficient in modern software engineering practices and tools, such as GitHub, Slack, and Jira, to support collaboration and productivity.

Essential Skills/Experience
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Life Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience in demonstrating successful implementation of data engineering and data science projects.
• 3+ years+ of experience with in operations database programming.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and proficiency in SQL

Desirable Skills/Experience
• Masters in Computer Science / or Data Science
• Experience in developing operations applications and tools using modern frameworks such as Python, JavaScript, and cloud-based platformsOperations 
• Experience in custom solutions development, with a focus on automation and process improvement
• Experience in SharePoint, InfoPath, Nintex

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $115,082.00 to $172,624.00 Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
