Summary: The Statistical Modeling Analyst is responsible for analyzing data and producing analytics and reporting related to Rebate Strategy Analytics. The analyst supports the Rebate Strategy Analytics team by providing technical assistance and analytical consultation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Applies data-mining, statistical and advanced modeling techniques to identify drug trends
Identifies and creates behavior and risk profiles for pharmacies and prescribers to model behaviors that could signify fraud, waste and abuse.
Conducts and develops various forms of statistical analyses to effectively identify patterns among data.
Communicates model findings as well as recommendations to management and internal stakeholders.
Performs ad-hoc analyses as requested by business owners with special focus on product pricing, product ROI, and opportunities to optimize rebates.
Produces monthly/periodic reporting to support internal/external client needs as well as the detection of opportunities for the Rebate Analytics department.
Effectively interacts with internal and external clients by communicating complex analytic findings in an easy-to-understand manner.

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Operations Research, Biostatistics, Applied Math, Actuarial Studies, or a similar field of study (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required. Master’s or advanced degree preferred. Must have 1 years’ experience working with analytics, data-mining, and/or statistical analysis; or equivalent combination of education and job related experience.
Desired experience will include:
A broad knowledge of statistical and health analytical principles.
Baseline knowledge and basic familiarity with developing, testing and validating models utilized for outlier detection.
Baseline knowledge and basic familiarity with application of supervised and unsupervised models.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience and be proficient with:
Analytical programming tools, specifically SAS and SQL
Statistical programming and modeling in SAS, R, Python, and/or other statistical software
Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Work Location
This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work may be an option with management approval and agreement.
Working Hours
This is an exempt level position requiring one to work the hours needed to get the job done. Therefore one must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. This may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Travel - This position may require occasional travel and attendance at local conferences and meetings.
