Partners with the business to turn clinical data into critical information and knowledge. Possesses an advanced understanding of healthcare and data and analytics. Works as part of an interdisciplinary team with analytic and technical responsibilities for deriving insights, performing population assessments, designing, and supporting interventions, and monitoring process and outcome metrics. Acts as a liaison between clinical and business leaders in healthcare and the technical teams, and collaborates with providers, payers, and community organizations to facilitate coordinated care across different healthcare settings. Works closely with other BIDs, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and internal/external customers. The successful candidate should have rich clinical experience, awareness of US healthcare and payer market concepts, a good understanding of medical coding, and excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Essential Functions
- Analyze and manage data related to groups of individuals to identify and address gaps in care, health disparities, and opportunities for improvement.
- With minimal assistance, translates and documents business program needs into a technical solution using visuals and creating data sources, metrics, and automation. Visuals, data sources, and automation will be created from electronic health record (EHR) reporting tools and databases, (ie Clarity, Caboodle, Epic Registries, Epic Extract Framework, Custom Radar SQL metrics, Data Links, and Predictive Model configuration), cloud reporting systems (ie Snowflake), and other EHR agnostic tools (ie SSIS, GoAnywhere, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.).
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis of claims, EMR, and third-party data to identify patterns and trends. Ability to self-service data out of the EHR for ad hoc reporting
- Must be able to provide assistance and consultation to Clinical Departments and serve as the coordinator between clinical departments and IT
- Possesses knowledge of workflows in multiple business areas to support data development, analytics, and quality improvement activities. Guides less experienced Business Intelligence Developers in gaining workflow knowledge.
- Participate in the implementation of new information and analytic systems, or enhancements to existing systems (ie, Epic) involving the analysis of clinical user requirements and then make recommendations for clinical use that also meets data capture needs or drives knowledge back to point of care.
- Assists with the system design activities, recognizing and pointing out constraints and shortcomings or particular clinical approaches.
- Works with data engineers and data architects as the architect designs relational and dimensional data models to verify that the model meets the use cases and aligns with strategic direction.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business, liberal arts, computer science, application programming, software development, information systems, database administration, mathematics, engineering, or another related field
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience working with Epic
- Experience working with clinical data domains
