About the Role: 
CALSTART is hiring a Data Analyst Intern to support the Data & Analytics (DnA) team in advancing clean transportation initiatives. This intern will play a key role in data processing, research, and analysis for projects like the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), the Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI), and eTRUC, as well as broader research efforts. The internship is expected to last 4-6 months, starting in late Q1 or Q2 of 2025. This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data-driven policy analysis, sustainability research, and transportation electrification.
This is a 3 - 6 month part time internship requiring a 25 hour per week commitment.

What You'll Do:

  • Data Processing & Analysis: Work with R or Python to clean, process, and analyze large datasets.
  • Analytics & Research: Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to support clean transportation projects.
  • Literature Review: Research academic papers, industry reports, and policy documents to inform data insights.
  • Preliminary Data Insights: Produce visualizations, reports, and trend analyses to support decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Assist in data collection by engaging with industry partners, researchers, and internal teams.
  • Presentation Development: Prepare materials, reports, and visualizations for stakeholder meetings and internal discussions.

What You Bring To The Table:

  • Data Analytics Experience: Proficiency in Excel and R or Python for data processing and statistical analysis.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Critical Thinking & Creativity: A problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify insights from complex datasets.
  • Attention to Detail & Grit: Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain accuracy in data analysis.
  • Interest in Clean Transportation & Sustainability: Passion for advancing zero-emission technologies and environmental research.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in STEM or Business Analysis
