Are you looking for a part-time, remote work opportunity offering scheduling flexibility? If so, we invite you to join our team of dedicated professionals! The Center for Workforce Research and Information manages the programs that provide the most important economic information about conditions in Maine. These programs inform the public about employment, unemployment, and wages for the state and local areas. The candidate selected for this 20 hour per week position would have flexibility in both working remotely and setting their weekly work schedule within our business hours. We encourage you to apply. Our knowledgeable team provides on-the-job training, preparing new team members from a variety of educational and work backgrounds for success. This position is a crucial member of the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program, which is the foundation for labor and other economic statistics in the U.S. This position collects, reviews, and classifies data provided by employers. The work entails coding employer accounts through internet research about the nature of a business, as well as email and phone contact to collect additional information. Attention to detail and working collaboratively with a team are important to success.Most members of our team primarily work from home several days a week and some work primarily in our Augusta office. Our full staff usually joins together in the office on Wednesdays. Our team offers flexibility, work life balance, job security, work accommodations and support for wellbeing.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Research the nature of business to assign industry codes to employer accounts.
- Contacts employers to collect information and obtain clarification regarding provided data.
- Enters, and reviews for quality, data provided by employers.
- Analyzes, reviews, and edits data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Skills or knowledge required:

- Adhering to laws and confidentiality requirements governing microdata
Minimum qualifications:
Education, training, and/or experience in data analysis, data collection, data entry, labor statistics, or another related field with demonstrated experience in a role providing customer service and organizing information.Preference will be given to those applicants:
With experience reviewing and classifying information. Relevant experience could include assigning information to the most pertinent group such as in a medical coding or billing context, working with industry, occupational or any similar system of classification.
