About You
As the Sr. Data Engineer & Analyst, you will lead the Data Programs within the Business Services Division at TASB. This is a specialized position that combines the application of data engineering and data analysis skillsets across multiple lines of business. This role provides critical business data design and analysis for strategic decision making, including the design and building of robust data lakes, databases and reporting structures to support critical business analysis and growth while improving the business performance and creating solutions. This position serves as a key resource for senior business leadership, is integral to enterprise-wide data structures, and fundamental to the success of many other areas of the Association. Business Services is one of the most outward facing areas of the organization. This is an Austin-based hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to reside within the Austin area.
A Typical Day
Data Architecture Design and Development:
- Lead the design and development of scalable and high-performance reporting architectures across multiple lines of business.
- Develop and maintain BuyBoard’s PowerBi reporting structures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.
- Implement architecture patterns and data models that support flexibility, business growth, and security.
Database Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain databases to support the organization's data needs and future goals across multiple lines of business
- Optimize database reporting to ensure data integrity and security.
- Develop data models and schemas based on business requirements and long-range plans.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
Business Analysis:
- Analyze operating data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making across multiple business lines.
- Maintain and report on accountabilities and goals across the organization.
- Conduct thorough analysis of business processes, systems, and workflows.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains through technology solutions.
- Work closely with business area stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical reporting specifications.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide comprehensive guidance through detailed reporting & analysis to foster strategic business thinking.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in architecture, databases, and business analysis.
- Drive innovation and process improvements within the team and the organization.
Skills For Success
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in business operations.
- 2-3 years of experience in data architecture design and development.
- Proven experience in data analytics and synthesizing data into strategic decision-making information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to analyze data and draw business-relevant conclusions.
- Expertise in database design, implementation, and management (SQL and/or NoSQL).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus.
