ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Data Engineering Team Lead to oversee and drive the development of our data engineering team. You will play a key role in managing direct reports, ensuring that team deliverables align with the company’s overall strategy, and having a voice in daily deployments. This is a leadership role where you will focus on team management, mentorship, and technical oversight.

Additionally, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions across the organization. Your ability to align engineering initiatives with business objectives will be crucial in shaping the future of our data-driven decision-making processes.

 

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Lead and manage the Data Engineering team, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with business goals.
  • Supervise daily deployments and actively contribute to decision-making regarding deployed solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews, ensuring best practices and high-quality standards in BigQuery, SQL, Python, and GCP solutions.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve data architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Develop comprehensive data models that support business objectives and maintain high data quality. Establish and enforce governance best practices to ensure compliance, security, and optimal data management across the organization.
  • Conduct regular 1-2-1 reviews, salary reviews, and provide mentorship to team members.
  • Drive and motivate the team, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
  • Lead daily stand-ups and ensure effective communication within the team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical decisions with business strategy.

 

OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing direct reports.
  • Proven experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Expertise in BigQuery, SQL, Python, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data architecture and best practices.
  • Experience in conducting code reviews and ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and motivate a team.
  • Ability to drive strategy while also being involved in daily technical discussions.
