NCQA is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with a strong background in MS-SQL and Business Intelligence (BI) tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with complex SQL queries, deciphering and optimizing legacy SQL code, and developing efficient data processes. Proven expertise in designing and building objects for data warehouses, datamarts and reporting solutions. Additionally, experience with BI tools such as Power BI and MicroStrategy is required to support reporting and visualization needs. The individual should be familiar with ADF2 cloud services. The individual must be able to work independently and in a group setting. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, performance, and usability of our data infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Optimize database performance, indexing, and query execution plans.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Designs and builds database systems for high availability and quality.
  • Enforces and documents database policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Monitors database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Work effectively with data related to different business processes, products, and services.
  • Create supporting documentation for design and solution specifications.
  • Partner with developers in embedding data interfaces into different information systems.
  • Analyze, interpret, and optimize legacy SQL code to improve performance and maintainability.
  • Work closely with analysts and business stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and usability.
  • Develop and maintain BI reports and dashboards using Power BI and other visualization tools.
  • Performs tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data integrity, validity, consistency, security, privacy, and integrity
  • Collaborate with other reporting, visualization, and analytics departments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and improve data architecture.
  • Analyze business needs of customers and operations, analyze information systems, and propose data solutions
  • Ensure data governance, security, and best practices are followed.
  • Serve as change agent who motivates end users in adopting new methods of viewing and using data and interactive dashboards.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years Strong proficiency in MS-SQL, including debugging, refactoring, and performance tuning. 
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL). Expert SQL and scripting skills.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and ADF2 data pipeline frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to innovate, prioritize and multi-task. Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, cooperative approach.
  • Data modeling / diagram skills required.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • For new hires, this position pays in the range of $120K - $130K per year, depending on experience.
  • This position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus, payable in accordance with policy.
