Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) Engineer Senior to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) in support of the development and sustainment of the Space Digital Ecosystem and iNtegration (SpaceDEN). Responsibilities
As a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) Engineer Senior with MTSI, you will provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) in support of the development and sustainment of the Space Digital Ecosystem and iNtegration (SpaceDEN). The candidate will work in multi-level classified environments to include Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities. A successful candidate should be a self-starter who possesses initiative, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and a proven problem solver.
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
- Designing and building solutions to deploy applications in customer-facing environments while automating the operational aspects of the solution through code.
- Focusing on automation of internal development, testing, and release processes, ensuring continuous delivery of software and updates.
- Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure, collaborating with stakeholders to improve processes, and ensuring system security against cybersecurity threats.
- Managing infrastructure projects, implementing automation tools, testing code and deployments, and monitoring system performance.
- Providing technical guidance and education to team members while maintaining best practices for infrastructure security and configuration standards.
- Handling code deployments across all environments, ensuring seamless updates and minimal downtime.
- Monitoring deployment metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Employing containerizing technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Provide guidance on developing, maintaining, and tracing requirements.
- Overseeing development and deployment on hybrid platforms that include cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud automation tools.
- Applying technical standards, principles, and theories in software development and infrastructure automation.
- Effectively coordinate with a geographically dispersed team.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of relevant experience performing engineering activities.
- At least 2 years’ experience in container-based technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
- Experience with CI/CD systems and writing pipelines with tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or related technology.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Infrastructure as Code with technologies like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or related technology.
- Expertise in DevOps technologies, concepts, and agile methodologies.
- Understanding of Modern programming languages (C++, Python, Java, etc.).
- Experience with Mattermost, Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of analysts, developers, data scientists, operators, and subject-matter experts.
- Possess strong analytic skills and be capable of operating in a multi-tasking environment.
- Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to provide briefings to program office staff about ongoing efforts.
Desired Requirements:
- Experienced working/using Agile methodologies.
- Understands Digital Engineering execution and strategy.
- Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience with Space Systems Command (SSC) or USSF Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI).
- Familiarity with security procedures while working in a SCIF/SAPF environment.
- Experience with DoD Acquisition Lifecycle experience and/or Rapid Acquisition / Rapid Delivery experience.
- Minimum 2 years of Special Access Program (SAP) experience.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, software development or STEM related specialty.
- Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, software development, or STEM related specialty, Desired.
- SAFe for Teams certification, Desired.
- DevSecOps certifications (Kubernetes, Cloud, IaC, GitLab, etc.).
- Certifications in security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are advantageous.
Clearance Requirements:
- Active Top Secret, SCI eligible.
- Eligibility for access to SAP Information.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Location/Travel Requirements:
- Place of work is Colorado Springs, CO area, remote work opportunity is limited.
- May require travel up to 10% of time within the continental United States.
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $130,000/year to $190,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
