Overview

As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer at National Debt Relief, you will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing our enterprise data warehouse (EDW) on Snowflake. You will play a critical role in ensuring stability, performance, and cost efficiency by managing integrations, refining CI/CD pipelines, enforcing data security policies, and overseeing access controls.

In this hands-on individual contributor role, you will own the dimensional modeling of our core data assets, design and maintain entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) for new source integrations, and establish clear, consistent data definitions. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, ensuring our data assets are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with business needs.

This position requires a highly skilled technical expert who can balance deep technical work with stakeholder engagement, driving data excellence across the organization.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable, high-performance data models within dbt to support analytical and operational needs.
  • Integrate and ingest data from sources like Salesforce using Fivetran or custom Python connectors, ensuring reliability and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments, streamline data integration, and enforce best practices.
  • Design and orchestrate data workflows using Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) to manage dependencies and ensure efficient processing.
  • Enforce robust data security and access controls to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and internal policies.
  • Partner with stakeholders to establish consistent data definitions, improve data usability, and identify business problems solvable with data.
  • Optimize Snowflake cost management, balancing storage, compute resources, and performance to align with business needs.
  • Scale compute resources dynamically to meet varying workloads and maintain cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership, sharing best practices for data warehousing, modeling, and governance.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance data pipelines, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and data integrity.

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, a related field or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in data engineering or data warehouse development, with a focus on cloud environments

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive experience with both Snowflake and AWS.
  • Experience with dbt or SQLMesh
  • Expert proficiency in both SQL and Python.
  • Proven experience in integrating data sources via a variety of methods including flat file & API.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and workflow management tools like Airflow or Dagster.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data curation.
  • Knowledge of data security, access controls, and compliance best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Preferred:

  • Experience in financial services or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts.
  • Understanding of data governance best practices.

NDR role qualifications:

  • Computer competency and ability to work with a computer.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Punctuality expected, ready to report to work on a consistent basis.
  • Attain and maintain high performance expectations on a monthly basis.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Use and navigate multiple computer systems with exceptional multi-tasking skills.
  • Remain calm and professional during difficult discussions.
  • Take constructive feedback.
  • Available for full-time position, overtime eligible if classified non-exempt.

Compensation Information

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $141.5k-171k annual
