We are looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join our Term Trading team. The Portfolio Analyst leads the performance tracking of trading strategies and manages reporting tools built to monitor variances between Power Operations’ power cost budget and actuals daily. The successful candidate will also analyze the impact new power and gas strategies can have on Power Operations’ portfolio.

To evaluate new power and gas trading strategies, the Portfolio Analyst may need to collect fundamental information for generation resources and load demand for electricity, natural gas, carbon and other commodities related to the bulk electricity market that impact the operation of commodity markets; conduct market sector or statistical analysis and interpret key market data elements into useful trading information. The successful candidate will also perform analysis on data sets that may require scripts, codes, languages, etc. and track portfolio performance by strategy. The Portfolio Analyst will also lead stakeholder engagement to support, maintain, and enhance power operations data infrastructure, acting as liaison between technical resources and the business

Key Responsibilities

Project Management Leads cross-functional stakeholder engagement effectively through agile best practices and principles. Supports power operations to maintain and enhance data infrastructure, comprehending both business needs and technical requirements effectively. Ensures data enhancements are appropriately documented and communicated to key stakeholders.

Trading Analytics Completes quantitative analyses to support trading functions and presents findings to term, day-ahead and real-time traders for implementation of trading strategy. Tracks performance of trading strategies and Net Variable Power Cost targets, analyzes how new power and gas strategies would impact PGE's portfolio.  May use third-party tools to assist in analysis and trading. The analytics to be performed will have moderate complexity in nature.

Communications and Presentations Effectively communicates complex trading and market fundamental information to traders and management.

External Relations Participates in energy-related forums and meetings with other utilities and regulatory agencies to share/exchange information and provide technical input to industrywide policies.

Regulatory Compliance Supports PGE’s interactions with external enforcement agencies; contributes to PGE’s processes to demonstrate compliance and responses to audits; serves as company witness and subject matter expert in legal and rate-making testimony.

Education/Experience/Certifications

Education Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, engineering, business and/or related field of study preferred.

Experience Typically five or more years in the energy industry or a related field. Experience in market trading and asset optimization.

Compensation Range:

$84,450.00 - $166,625.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
