Lead Data QA Engineer - FanDuel, Hybrid & Remote

We are seeking a Lead Data QA Engineer to join FanDuel, where your role will be instrumental in establishing our Data QA practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in data quality design, testing best practices, and delivery, while also being skilled in developing strategic roadmaps, articulating value and impact, and building high-performing teams to drive the company's success.

Key accountabilities:

Automation & Performance Capability

  • Work with product managers and data engineering leads to create best in class testing strategies.
  • Lead the development of automation frameworks to maintain or enhance our delivery pipeline capabilities in collaboration with other QA engineers.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to maintain the automation strategies agreed upon.
  • Design and maintain current automation statistics and QA reports to ensure updated visibility on the status.
  • Create automation roadmaps to improve delivery efficiency and reduce manual testing needs, enabling a leaner delivery process.
  • Provide tooling recommendations to engineering teams to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Improve the monitoring system regarding Automation tests to ensure flawless performance.
  • Develop and enforce data quality standards and policies to ensure consistency and reliability across the organization.
  • Support and provide guidance to the data QA engineering team in terms of standard methodologies, best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Maintain regular code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Proactively tackle challenges related to automation and implement effective solutions.
  • Take ownership of the testing strategy for the data organization, ensuring world-class performance standards.

Leadership:

  • Lead a team of data quality engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence to achieve high-performance outcomes.
  • Design and implement an organization-wide data quality framework to improve data integrity and reliability, influencing changes in governance, quality metrics, processes, data tools, and architecture.
  • Create and enforce robust data quality standards and policies to maintain consistency and reliability throughout the organization.

Technical Competencies

  • Proven experience and knowledge in designing, developing, and executing test plans for ETL processes, data pipelines, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of testing data transformations, integrations and migrations.
  • Understanding of data lineage audits.
  • Experience of database technologies like Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, Redshift, Databricks or other.
  • Experience defining KPIs/measurements and designing data quality dashboards and reports.
  • Experience of Agile software development practices.
  • Proficient in using monitoring tools like Datadog and Monte Carlo.
  • Good knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with implementing CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with AWS services and containerization (e.g., Docker, API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and SQL.

Key experience & qualifications

  • 7+ years of software delivery experience, demonstrating a track record of success.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and influencing testers to achieve exceptional results.
