The opportunity
We’re looking for a student to join our Computational Linguistics team for a paid three-month internship in the summer of 2025 (June 24 - September 12, 2025). The intern in our Computational Linguistics team will build a solution or a prototype for a language-based user problem. In this role, the intern will help Grammarly tackle some of our most interesting technical challenges and gain real-world experience shipping features to millions of users. Summer interns will receive monthly compensation during the internship, along with a one-time stipend to help cover living expenses during this period.
Grammarly’s engineers and researchers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs—and, in turn, influence our product roadmap. As a Computational Linguistics Intern, you will help tackle some of Grammarly’s biggest natural language processing challenges. In this role, you will:
- Work on end-to-end natural language processing challenges directly related to your team’s high-level goals.
- Iterate quickly in a fast-paced environment and leverage your unique point of view to share feedback on product direction.
- Partner with a mentor to scope, design, and execute a fully formed project over the duration of your internship.
- Collaborate with a strong team of professionals from whom you can learn daily.
- Gain hands-on experience with various natural language processing tools and techniques and linguistic resources.
- Learn from all the challenges of shipping a product to tens of millions of daily active users.
We’re looking for someone who
- Is currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program in Computer Science or a related field.
- Bachelor’s: 3rd or 4th year student only
- Master’s: 1st year students only
- PhD: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year students only
- Is available for the entire duration of a twelve-week program (June 24 - September 12).
- Is available to work up to 40 hours per week in the summer period.
- Is passionate about Grammarly’s mission—improving lives by improving communication.
- Has a strong foundation in linguistics and natural language processing: this can come from being self-taught, previous internships, what you’ve learned at school, passion projects, and more. However you got there, it’s great for us!
- Demonstrates strong communication skills, especially as it relates to technical collaboration.
- Has proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python, but feel free to apply if your specialty is different!).
- Has a B2 or higher level in both spoken and written English.
- Is excited to learn!
